Set to high priority
A simple thing you can do to reduce the lag in Minecraft is to make it a high priority. To do so in Windows computers you must:
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete)
Under the Processes tab find ‘ Javaw.exe
Right click on Javaw.exe hover to Set Priority and click on High<
Don't overstress your computer
The more programs you run the more your system resources get hogged and in turn slows down your computer. An effective way to get rid of the Minecraft lag is to not run so many programs at one time.
Reduce the graphics
Inside Minecraft go to Options
Then click on Video Settings
Set render distance to Short, Fog on (by pressing F), and set "fast" graphics.
As soon as you get into the Minecraft world, wait 5 minutes. This gives the game time to load and render everything in the world resulting in smoother game
